Dimensional Reduction at High Temperature for Fermions
نویسنده
چکیده
The concept of dimensional reduction in the high temperature regime is generalized to static Green’s functions of composite operators that contain fermionic fields. The recognition of a natural kinematic region where the lowest Matsubara modes are close to their mass-shell, and the ultraviolet behavior of the running coupling constant of the original theory are crucial for providing the necessary scale hierarchy. The general strategy is illustrated in the asymptotically-free Gross-Neveu model in 1 + 1 dimensions, where we verify that dimensional reduction occurs to the leading order in g2(T ). We also find, in the same model, that the scale parameter characterizing the dependence on temperature of the coupling constant in the reduced theory, ΛT , is considerably smaller than ΛMS. Implications of our results for QCD are also discussed.

Dimensional reduction and quantum-to-classical reduction at high temperatures.
We discuss the relation between dimensional reduction in quantum field theories at finite temperature and a familiar quantummechanical phenomenon that quantum effects become negligible at high temperatures. Fermi and Bose fields are compared in this respect. We show that decoupling of fermions from the dimensionally reduced theory can be related to the non-existence of classical statistics for ...

We generalize the concept of dimensional reduction to operators involving fermion fields in high temperature field theories. It is found that the ultraviolet behavior of the running coupling constant plays a crucial role. The general concept is illustrated explicitly in the Gross-Neveu model.

We consider magnetic catalysis in a field-theoretic system of (3+1)-dimensional Dirac fermions with anisotropic kinetic term. By placing the system in a strong external magnetic field, we examine magnetically-induced fermion mass generation. When the coupling anisotropy is strong, in which case the fermions effectively localize on the plane, we find a significant enhancement of the induced mass...

A numerical study on Nox emission from an industrial furnace utilizing high temperature air combustion (HTAC) technology was done. The basic concept of the regenerative burner including heating a diluting of fresh air by flue gas was implemented in a two-dimensional furnace model. Governing equations in conjunction with a turbulence model and an overall chemistry model were solved using an impl...
متن کاملExact Effective Action for (1 + 1 Dimensional) Fermions in an Abelian Background at Finite Temperature
In an effort to further understand the structure of effective actions for fermions in an external gauge background at finite temperature, we study the example of 1 + 1 dimensional fermions interacting with an arbitrary Abelian gauge field. We evaluate the effective action exactly at finite temperature. This effective action is non-analytic as is expected at finite temperature. However, contrary...
